Roof Repairs and New Roofs, Done Properly

Bexleyheath has plenty of the houses we work on most: Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slate roofs and tall chimney stacks, 1930s semis with tiled hips and bays, and extensions and dormers with flat roofs. We repair, re-roof and maintain all of them, from a single slipped slate to a complete new roof.

A roof repair starts with finding the real cause. Water can run a long way along felt and timbers before it shows on a ceiling, so we go up, look, and photograph what we find before quoting. If a repair will do, we say so. If the roof has reached the end of its life, we explain why and give you a clear price for a new one.

We are a limited company, members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors, and our customers have rated us 4.93 out of 5 across 158 reviews on TrustATrader. Finished work comes with a written guarantee, and the site is left clean.

New Roofing in Bexleyheath, from Strip-Out to Final Clean

A new roof is a big job, and most of it is hidden once it is done. This is how we run one, whether it is natural slate on a Victorian terrace or new tiles on a 1930s semi.

  • A look at the roof first

We go up, photograph what we find and talk you through it, so you know why the roof needs replacing before you agree to anything.

  • Scaffold and a dry house

Scaffolding goes up, with a temporary roof over the top where the job needs one, so the house stays dry while the roof is open.

  • Stripped and rebuilt

Old slates or tiles, battens and felt come off, timbers are checked, then new breathable membrane, battens and the new covering go on.

  • Lead, ridges and edges

Flashings, valleys, ridges, hips and verges are finished so every joint in the roof is weathertight.

  • Photos as we go

You see each stage, including the parts that are covered up once the roof is finished.

  • Cleared, checked and guaranteed

The site is cleared and washed down, the roof is checked over, and you get a written guarantee.

They replaced the whole slate roof on my Victorian terrace. The old roof was looked over carefully, the quote was detailed and fair and covered new insulation as well, and the team turned up on the days agreed. It was all finished before a deadline I had, and a couple of small snags at the end were put right straight away.

At my parents’ house in Erith they swapped the timber fascia boards for uPVC and put up new white deep-flow guttering. The work began within a week of the quote, three roofers had it done in two and a half days, it came in on budget, and they left the place clean.

Another company had told me I needed a whole new flat roof. These roofers came out that day, found the roof itself was sound and only its edges had been badly finished, fixed them quickly, and were happy to guarantee the roof afterwards.

EmilyFlat roof leak · February 2024

Peeling soffits were covered over, every gutter and downpipe was renewed, and cracks in the gable end were filled. The roofers were on time and friendly, took all their waste away and left everything neat.

I look after a number of properties and have called on them for more than four years, for awkward leaks and small repairs alike. The care is the same whatever the job, and the problem gets sorted every time.

A new EPDM rubber flat roof, put on quickly and neatly by a polite crew who cleared up after themselves. I would happily use them again.

Roofing Questions from Bexleyheath Homeowners

What people ask us most before we start work on their roof.

Do you cover Bexleyheath?

Yes. We work across Bexleyheath and the nearby DA postcodes, including Welling, Barnehurst, Bexley, Sidcup, Crayford and Erith, and further into south-east London and north-west Kent. Every area is listed on our coverage page.

What can you do about a leaking roof?

First we find where the water is getting in, which is often not right above the stain. Common causes are slipped or broken slates and tiles, cracked mortar on ridges and chimneys, and failed lead flashings. We show you photos and give you a price, and if water is coming in we can make the roof weathertight while the repair is arranged.

Which roofing materials do you use?

On pitched roofs we use natural slate and concrete or clay tiles, laid on new breathable membrane and battens. On flat roofs we mostly lay EPDM rubber, as Firestone RubberCover installers, and we also work with fibreglass and felt. Flashings, valleys and bay roofs are done in lead.

How long does a new roof take?

It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. From past jobs: a whole house roof renewed in under two weeks, fascias and guttering round a house replaced in two and a half days, and many leak repairs finished within a day. We tell you how long your job should take when we quote.

Will you tell me if my roof does not need replacing?

Yes. If a repair will do the job, we say so and price the repair. Customers have come to us after being told elsewhere that they needed a new roof, and a repair was all it took.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. Completed work comes with a written guarantee. How long it runs depends on the job, as a new roof is covered for longer than a small repair, so ask us and we will confirm it for your roof when we quote.

Are you insured and part of a trade body?

Yes. Our insurance has been checked by TrustATrader, which has vetted us since 2021, and we are members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors (CORC), member number 8179.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. Alongside homeowners we work for landlords, managing agents and businesses, from a single repair to ongoing work across several properties, including flat roofs on shops, warehouses and blocks of flats.
